Discover the Heart and Soul of Tanzania Through Its People

Local Tanzanian Cultural Tourism Expertise

Founded in 2020 by Gorjo Girgis, a former tour guide and driver with deep roots in Tanzanian heritage, Happy Time 2 Africa is a proudly locally owned Tanzanian cultural tourism and safari company specializing exclusively in experiences within East or Southern Africa. Every journey we design, every guide we employ, every village we visit, and every destination we explore is focused entirely on Tanzania.

The company has been running for some years now, we have connected travelers from around the world with the extraordinary cultural diversity, natural beauty, and warm hospitality that define Tanzania. From the Maasai communities of the northern plains to the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers of Lake Eyasi, from the Chagga people of Mount Kilimanjaro to the Swahili heritage of Zanzibar, we create journeys that reveal the true spirit of Tanzania.

At Happy Time 2 Africa, we go far beyond traditional safaris. Our experiences allow travelers to share meals with Tanzanian families, explore local villages, learn ancestral traditions, discover UNESCO World Heritage Sites, experience traditional music and dance, and hear stories passed through generations. We do not simply show you Tanzania — we help you experience it through its people, traditions, landscapes, and culture.

Our Story

Happy Time 2 Africa began with a vision from a young Tanzanian guide named Gorjo Girgis. While working across Tanzania’s national parks and cultural destinations, Gorjo realized many visitors experienced Tanzania only through wildlife safaris while missing the living traditions and communities that make the country truly extraordinary.

Travelers would photograph lions and elephants but never sit beside a Maasai elder. They would drive through villages without tasting traditional Tanzanian food, hearing local music, or understanding the customs and values shaping everyday life.

Gorjo believed there was a better way to experience Tanzania.

In 2020, he founded Happy Time 2 Africa with a clear mission: to create a Tanzanian company that places culture at the center of travel while showcasing Tanzania — and only Tanzania — as a world-class destination rich in heritage, humanity, and authenticity.

What started as a small operation with a single safari vehicle has grown into one of Tanzania’s respected cultural tourism operators, with a dedicated Tanzanian team, a fleet of custom-built safari vehicles, international recognition, and thousands of positive reviews from travelers worldwide.

Yet our proudest achievement is not awards or recognition. It is the meaningful human connections we have helped create between travelers and Tanzanian communities — experiences that preserve traditions, support local livelihoods, and inspire deeper cultural understanding.

Culture First. Always. In Tanzania.

Tanzania Cultural Communities

At Happy Time 2 Africa, we believe culture and nature are inseparable in Tanzania. The Maasai have lived alongside wildlife for generations. The Hadzabe continue ancient hunting traditions near Lake Eyasi. The Chagga communities have cultivated the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro for centuries, while the Swahili coast has shaped East African trade, language, and culture for over a thousand years.

Every safari and cultural journey we design is built around understanding these uniquely Tanzanian stories and traditions.

  • Depth Over Speed: We prioritize meaningful cultural experiences over rushed itineraries.
  • Connection Over Observation: We encourage genuine interaction with Tanzanian communities.
  • Respect Over Curiosity: Every cultural visit is conducted with dignity and mutual respect.
  • Understanding Over Entertainment: Our journeys focus on education, heritage, and authentic exchange.
  • Community Over Commerce: Tourism benefits flow directly to local Tanzanian communities.

Authentic Cultural Experiences Across Tanzania

We believe travel should transform, not simply transport. Our itineraries are carefully designed to immerse travelers in authentic Tanzanian life and traditions.

  • Share traditional meals with local families in rural Tanzanian villages.
  • Join Maasai ceremonies and learn about pastoral traditions and customs.
  • Listen to oral storytelling traditions beside evening fires near Lake Eyasi.
  • Learn traditional drumming, dance, and music from local cultural groups.
  • Visit Datoga blacksmiths and witness craftsmanship techniques preserved for generations.
  • Explore the winding streets of Stone Town, Zanzibar, discovering Swahili culture and history.
  • Experience Chagga coffee traditions on the fertile slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

These are not staged performances or scripted tourist attractions. They are genuine experiences shared with real Tanzanian communities who proudly preserve their traditions and heritage.
